This is how we did it back in the day. Plastic suit tied at the neck, sweaty little mask with nose holes you could barely breathe through. I remember these costumes being the sh*! Unless my Mom dressed me up as a Hobo{something we all were a time or two} I remember loving going shopping every year for my costume in a box!
Vintage Lemon Meringue Halloween Costume found in MagpieEthel's Etsy Shop.

Hopefully dressing your child as a "Hobo" for Halloween isn't an option anymore...what were our parents thinking?? Yikes! Is that not the saddest costume :(

It's about that time to get out there and go costume shopping....happy hunting♥♥

ReplyDeleteboy am I SLOW sometimes...started reading your post and thought - hey i have that same costume on Etsy...la la la....oh, it is the same one!! LOL! thanks for the mention - it is a cute costume and I love that it has the original box!

ReplyDeleteIf you email me with your details, I'll pop it straight in the mail for you.
The saddest memory for me was having to be a crow because that was the only store-bought costume my Dad could find. The condensation from inside the long beaked mask dripped down onto my costume. *Sigh*. I would have LOVED to be Lemon Meringue instead.
ReplyDeleteHi Kristen--love your blog! Just found you through the Farm Chicks. I'm a vintage girl, too, love what you've got here--I'll be back often to see what's going on with you--thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh my, the crow costume sounds SO sad :( I can totally relate= a little girl should never be a Hobo! But Thanks for the LOL :)
ReplyDeleteI was a plastic-y Holly Hobbie for Halloween in, like, hmmm, the 2nd grade. It was awesome. I remember going to recess and having to take my mask off to eat lunch. Thanks for stirring up the memories!!!
