Necessary{and unnecessary}new{old} finds♥

Maybe it's just this time of year{prom, end of the school year, graduation etc...}but it feels like there are fewer hours in every day! So while I've been a little overwhelmed with the hecticness of life lately, somehow I've managed to find my way out into the world to pick up a few wonderful things :)

I've been long overdue for a bedspread. I tried searching on-line for something vintage{with no luck}and also tried looking at Department Stores for something new but couldn't find anything I liked well enough{probably because I prefer vintage}. The second I spotted this Bates Velvet Beadspread at an Antique Mall I knew it was the one~ it is soooo soft, comfy & velvety♥♥
I've also wanted{and needed}a stand mixer for a while now. I found this vintage Sunbeam Mixmaster last week for $10~ and it works!! I love it{even though it's not pink}and can't wait to use it.

O.K. I probably didn't need this vintage Cash Register{from The National Cash Register Co. Dayton Ohio}but somehow I left the flea market with it. Once I got it home I started thinking "What the heck am I going to do with this?" my kids were asking me the same thing! But after finding the perfect spot for it....I'm in love with the shabby timeworn rusty old thing!! It's great for holding magnets{for completed Memo Boards in my Shop}and the drawer is perfect for storing little things.

The tag under the register drawer is marked Fox Theater 1949 Los Angeles California, it might have been used inside this Theater??

I finally pulled this old hutch out of my bathroom because I needed something in my work space for storage.
There's nothing like taking a piece of furniture from one room into another and feeling like you've got new furniture :)

Repurpose: Vintage Tie Backs

They're not just for holding your curtains back anymore. A few years ago I added this broken metal flower(I think it was a tie back at one time)to a nail and hung it inside my closet to hold misc. items.

Recently I came across this picture and thought what a great idea it was. Although some of them I believe are knobs(you really could use whatever you'd like)I think vintage tie backs would be perfect for something like this.

Found on HGTV.com

A few of my favorites found on Etsy:

This is a shelf in my room. It's a piece of salvaged awning taken off an old home~ what a great way to re-use & repurpose! I've been looking for more shelving for awhile now, with not much luck. I don't think you can ever have too many shelves :)

I love this simple display.

Looking for Inspiration....

I have a huge project to take on: My daughters room. I promised her that while she's away I'd get started on painting her room, so I've turned to flickr for some inspiration. I'm finding that decorating your kids room when they're little is so much easier~ when they're little they love everything you do! Now my daughter says she's grown out of the Cutesy Pink, and no longer wants her room "All Shabby Chic", Huh, is she serious???
So, now we're looking for COLOR!!

1. Framed in 70´s fabrics , 2. art, 3. Art Wall Above Bed, 4. Patchwork Nest

I could spend all day looking through Boopsidaisy's photo's .

1. (Carou)salivate

1. Twas the Night Before

1. Walls @ N2Skin

This is my idea of the perfect room...amazing colors(and floral prints everywhere)! I wonder if they fall into the "Cutesy" category???

1. the new happy bed, 2. bedroom

This is my Crafting Space(Disaster area)in need of some serious organizing. I'm in the middle of a few projects for my Shop, but once I'm done, organizing this space is on the top of my to-do list!

I have a few things I'm patiently waiting to arrive in the mail{trying to be patient...but I'm SO excited}I'll share them once they're here :)

Spring Painting & Organizing

I finally got around to painting this little shelf that I've had for almost two years. A friend gave me a couple shelves she found abandoned curbside(my friends tend to do that~ I'm not sure what that says about me??). Although I hung them both up shortly after I got them, I never liked how they were painted.

I also decided I needed more color in my work space, so I hung an Inspiration Board I had originally made for my shop.

The shelf is perfect for displaying some favorite things... but it's also a practical way to hold my crafting supplies & jars of buttons.

I have so much more organizing and re-arranging of my work space to do. I work so much better when there's no clutter! I know what I'm spending my weekend doing.

Work space and working on being organized

First of all let me just say Yes, I've been spending some time on Picnik again... I'm a fan of the boost effect, I love how it makes the colors so bright and vivid.
So, this is where I spend most of my time(above) and this(below) is where I try and camouflage my craft/work supplies. Since I don't have my own studio or office, I do most of my work in my dinning room(these pictures show about a 1/4 of the room). When I'm not in the middle of a project I try and keep everything hidden away so my dinning room can be functional~ thanks to my old pullout and China Cabinet/Hutch- which holds everything but china!

I need to get in there and organize all that fabric!
