Repurposed Vintage Sheets

I wasn't sure what I was going to do with these King size flat sheets, since the biggest bed in our house is a full~ I have the hardest time passing up vintage bedding whether I can use them or not. So, since I've been overdue for some kind of bedspread, duvet or coverlet for my bed, I figured turning these beautiful sorbet colored sheets into a duvet would make the perfect Summer bedding.

It was as simple as laying one sheet over my comforter to see how much I'd need to cut off, cutting the excess, pin the two sheets together(bright side face to face), sewing three sides~ like a U, leaving the top open to slip the comforter in(you can also add buttons or Velcro for closure, I just fold mine over). That's it, and the best part: NO pattern :)

Nice, sunny & bright!

So cute! And it's nice because you can change the look from time to time.

That's such a good idea, and it look so cute! A friend of mine took her husbands old shirts (button down types) and cut them up and did a similar thing, using large squares of the shirts. It looked great too.

Thanks! I'd love to see yours if you make one :) Now my daughters want one for their beds, so we're off to hunt for more vintage sheets today.

Wow, cute idea. I ask...is it simple to slip the comforter in or is it a mess of bunches and wrinkles to work with? I've never really used duvets but I love this idea so much that I can't wait to try.

I've been seeing a lot of vintage sheet projects around. How would one go about telling if a sheet is really vintage or new and just really dirty?
